KOCHI, MAY 26:
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who arrived in Kerala on Tuesday for a two-day visit, will highlight two major economic issues facing the State. These are the low price of natural rubber and the Centre’s new restrictions on fishing.
Rahul, who attended a Youth Congress meeting at Kozhikode on Tuesday, will speak at a protest meet of fish workers in Thrissur district on Wednesday.
The 61-day uniform fishing ban along the western coast, the restrictions on motorised fishing boats beyond 12 nautical miles and the alleged move to open up the marine Exclusive Economic Zone for foreign vessels have caused deep concern in Kerala’s fishing community.
